Free Family Bedtime and Device Agreement Planner
A family device agreement is a written plan for device routines, essential access and parent-approved exceptions. Use this planner to discuss the rules and print a household agreement.
Create a repeatable device routine together. This planner runs in your browser; it does not configure a device or save your entries to GuardSphere.
List the exact apps you and your child agree may stay available during the bedtime restriction. Examples include an app used to contact a parent or a screen reader that reads text aloud. These are examples, not automatically allowed apps. Leave this blank if you have not agreed any exceptions. Configure and test each exception on the device separately.
Your family agreement
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, selected apps pause from 22:00 to 06:00 the following day (8 hours).
Apps: Games, social media and entertainment apps
Apps agreed to remain available during bedtime: None listed. Agree and test any needed exceptions before enabling restrictions.
- Agree where the device charges overnight.
- Choose one adult to configure the policy and another to check it with the child.
- Verify the schedule timezone and test both the restricted and allowed periods on the actual device.
- For an overnight rule, check the next-day boundary and the last selected day.
- Review after one week and adjust exceptions together.
Use the Windows and Android setup guide to check platform requirements. Confirm supported enforcement before relying on a rule. A routine supports family conversations; it does not guarantee sleep or academic outcomes.
How do you turn the family plan into a useful device test?
Choose one agreed routine, one supported device and one rule to test. Use the printed agreement to make the plan clear for everyone, then follow the enrollment and device checks below to put the agreed rule into practice.
What should stay available?
List required school sign-in, learning sites, accessibility tools and the family's agreed communication needs before choosing entertainment restrictions. Test each required task during the restricted period. Allowing one browser domain does not establish that a related native application will work.
How can you record what worked and what needs adjustment?
- Record the device platform, ownership permission, agent or extension version, intended rule and organization timezone. Check current deployment availability before enrollment.
- Confirm enrollment and the assigned policy. Keep saved configuration separate from the outcome observed on the device.
- Try one intended restriction and one required allowed task. Test the relevant schedule boundary and record what actually happened.
- Verify the authorized exception or recovery path. If a result differs from the plan, investigate coverage, permissions and synchronization before adding more rules.
What would a small test look like?
Illustrative test, not a customer result: a family agrees on a homework period. The parent tests an entertainment rule and opens the required learning site on the same Windows computer during that period. If the rule needs adjusting to preserve learning access, the parent revises it and repeats both checks. The family discusses whether the routine helps; software activity alone does not prove learning or attention.
Could location context support an agreed family check-in?
If location sharing fits your family's agreed needs, verify the current device workflow and permission steps first. A geofence can help a guardian review the device's reported boundary context and decide when to check in. Check the timestamp and accuracy together; a device report does not establish a child's current whereabouts or guarantee safety. Review location reporting and boundary checks.
When should you choose a paid plan?
During the 14-day trial, confirm that the supported controls solve the requirement you wrote down, essential access remains available and recovery works. Check the device allowance, required modules and total monthly CAD price. Choose a paid plan when the observed result and recurring cost fit your needs. Use the trial to adjust the setup and confirm essential requirements; pause expansion when a requirement still needs a solution.
