Families & parents

Set homework and bedtime rules for a Windows computer.

Family device rules are agreed limits on apps, websites and access times. Start with one supported Windows computer, one entertainment restriction and the learning access your family needs.

Configure the rule and its schedule, then test both restricted and allowed access on the device. Check platform coverage before enrolling; Windows and supported Chrome activity have different controls.

Manage screen access around real family routines.

Limit distracting apps

Apply supported rules to reduce access to applications that interfere with homework, sleep, family time, or healthy routines.

Control websites

Use website policies to create safer and more age-appropriate online experiences.

Schedule device use

Align device access with study periods, bedtime, family activities, and other household routines.

Improve parental visibility

Use clearer information about device activity to guide conversations instead of relying only on assumptions.

Manage several devices

Apply structured controls across supported household devices from one governance environment.

Encourage responsible use

Use GuardSphere as a tool for boundaries and accountability rather than covert monitoring.

Family device management with clearer boundaries.

Make everyday device boundaries easier to manage

Build app, website and schedule policies around homework, bedtime and family routines, then check supported usage and protection signals.

  1. 1

    Enroll a supported device

Install the appropriate Windows or Android agent, or follow the managed Chromebook deployment path.

  2. 2

    Set one useful boundary

Choose a supported app, website or schedule rule that fits your family's routine.

  3. 3

    Check the result

Confirm protection status and review available usage signals before extending the setup.

Choose the right platform and setup. Windows uses a service and signed-in session monitor. Android controls depend on agent or fully managed deployment and permissions. ChromeOS uses a managed browser extension; force-installation and GuardSphere enrollment are separate steps.Compare deployment paths.

Geofencing and device security

Support agreed family check-ins with device location context

Agree which places matter to your family, then use a geofence to review whether an enrolled device was reported inside or outside a defined area. That context can help a guardian decide when to check in and discuss a boundary with their child.

  1. Explain location sharing to the family, agree on an appropriate purpose and complete the device disclosure and permission steps.
  2. Confirm the installed agent or extension supports the location workflow. Windows, Android and supported ChromeOS workflows have different enrollment, operating-system permissions and background-reporting requirements; verify the current deployment before relying on it.
  3. Check the report timestamp and location accuracy before interpreting an inside-or-outside result. A delayed or missing report calls for a connectivity, permission or device check.

The report describes a device at its recorded location, rather than proving where a person is now. Use it to support informed check-ins and device-security review. It is not continuous live tracking, an emergency service or a guarantee of child safety. A boundary event does not automatically change app access or lock a device.
